Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - The Brahmas offense was prolific Saturday night, scoring twice in the first six and a half minutes of the first period en route to a 5-2 victory over the Thunder.

The Texas offense was powered by multi-goal performances from defenseman Ross Rouleau and forward Calin Wild. Both Rouleau and Wild scored in the opening minutes of the first period to give the Brahmas an early lead, which they never relinquished. For Rouleau, the two goals give him a total of six on the season and four in his last four games. Rookie forward Phil Fox added an insurance goal in the third period, his fifteenth of the season.

The Brahmas' defense was strong all night, allowing only 16 Thunder shots. Goalie Steve Silverthorn stopped 14 of the 16 shots, improving to 9-10-5 on the year. His counterpart, Scott Darling, made his first start of the season between the posts for Wichita. Darling made 21 saves on the 25 shots he faced.

The Brahmas have now won three of their last four games, improving their record to 18-14-7. Texas is now seven points out of first place and four points ahead of Tulsa and Rio Grande Valley for third place in the Berry Conference.

Texas faces off against the Thunder again on Sunday at 5:05pm in Wichita, then returns to North Richland Hills to take on the Tulsa Oilers on Friday, January 27 at 7:30pm at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
