Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

Corpus Christi - The Fort Worth Brahmas continued their strong start to the 2005-2006 CHL season on Saturday night, toppling the Corpus Christi Rayz 3-1 at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi.

The Brahmas again benefited from outstanding play in net from second-year goaltender Larry Sterling. The Lake Orion, Michigan native stopped 41 of the 42 Rayz shots he faced in the game to lead the Brahmas to the victory. Sterling, who did not allow a Rayz goal until just thirty seconds remained in regulation, raises his record to a sparkling 5-0-0 on the season.

Center Cory Stillman and wingers David Silverstone and Bret DeCecco scored goals in the game for Fort Worth. Silverstone's goal on a wicked wrist shot from between the circles at the 11:30 mark of the second period proved to be the game winner for the Brahmas. DeCecco sealed the win for Fort Worth with an empty net goal at the 19:59 mark of the third.

Left wing Ryan Carter scored the only Corpus Christi goal in the game. Rayz goaltender Scott Reid was credited with the loss, allowing two Fort Worth goals on the 34 Brahmas' shots he faced.

The Brahmas win, coupled with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 4-3 regulation loss in Wichita, pulls Fort Worth into a first place tie with the Mudbugs atop the CHL's Northeast Division. The Brahmas and the Mudbugs both have a 5-1-1 record and 11 standings points. Fort Worth and Bossier-Shreveport are also tied for the most points in the CHL.

The Brahmas next game will be against this same Rayz squad, on Friday night, November 11, at 7:30 p.m., at the Fort Worth Covention Center.
