Brahmas Break Jackalopes Antlers with 6-3 Win

ODESSA, Texas (December 26)- In their fourth matchup of the season against the Odessa Jackalopes, the Brahmas roared back from a 2-0 deficit with a five goal second period to win their second consecutive contest.
The Jackalopes stepped onto the ice determined to even the record against the Brahmas. Todd Robinson gave Odessa an early lead after sending the puck past goalie Kevin Beech just 31 seconds into the game. Increasing Odessa ¬â¢s hope for a victory, Robinson found daylight again with a shorthanded shot late in the first period.
Despite the 2-0 deficit, the Brahmas put up a steel curtain defense and unleashed a torrent of offensive attacks throughout the middle frame. The Brahmas dashed any hopes Odessa had of extending their lead as five different players put goals past the pads of Odessa netminders Joel Martin and Michael Robinson. In the first four minutes, Tyler Allen, Chad Wollard, and Jason Krischuk all sent the puck between the pipes. Steven Later found the back of the net shortly after the halfway mark in the middle frame. Chris Moran finalized the scoring in the second period.
Moran solidified the Brahmas lead by also scoring an unassisted goal in the third period. Jeff Harvey sought redemption for his prior performance against the Jackalopes by shutting down Odessa after having replaced starter Kevin Beech late in period one.
With six unanswered goals facing them, the Jackalopes managed to put one additional point on the board when Jeff Pierce scored at the 14:15 mark. Even though the Brahmas started in a hole, the combination of a strong defense and explosive offense dashed the Jackalopes hope of evening the season matchup. The Brahmas ride out of town with a 3-1 series lead.
The Brahmas completed a two game road swing with victories at Tulsa and Odessa.
The Brahmas return home Tuesday, December 28th when they host the Allen Americans for the second game of the Fire and Ice Vintage Series with a 7:00 pm start at the NYTEX Sports Centre. Tuesday night ¬â¢s contest will feature a free postgame skate with Brahmas players and a jersey auction for the special Fort Worth Fire sweaters.
