Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

Youngstown, Ohio - Youngstown Steelhounds goaltender David St. Germain stopped all 41 Fort Worth Brahmas shots he faced to backstop the ‘Hounds to a 6-0 shutout win over the Brahmas in Friday night CHL action at the Chevrolet Centre in Youngstown, Ohio.

The shutout for St. Germain was his third of the season. The veteran netminder from Brossard, Quebec was especially effective in the first two periods of play when he kept the Brahmas off the scoreboard despite facing 30 shots.

St. Germain received all the offensive support he would need in the first period of play as the Steelhounds collected five of their six goals. Chris Richards, Jeff Christian, Joey Sewell, Matt Hanson, and Ben Manny all scored for Youngstown in the opening twenty minutes of the game. Three of the five first period goals for Youngstown came on the powerplay.

After a scoreless second period, Youngstown forward Chris Shaffer netted his tenth goal of the season 1:03 into the third period to set the final score at 6-0.

Andrew Martin took the loss in goal for the Brahmas, allowing the six Youngstown scores on the 38 shots sent his way.

Fort Worth has now been shutout five times this season. The loss for the Brahmas, their third in a row, gives the Brahmas a 17-38-8 mark for the year. Fort Worth also remains winless (0-5-2) against the Steelhounds this season. The Brahmas and the Steelhounds will meet again on Saturday night, March 25, at 6:05 p.m. (CST) in Youngstown. Saturday night's game will be the 2005-2006 CHL season finale for both Fort Worth and Youngstown.

BRAHMAS ROSTER MOVES: Fort Worth made a handful of roster moves on Friday afternoon. Winger Chris Bain was suspended by the CHL for ten games for leaving the bench to start an altercation in Wednesday night's Brahmas/Steelhounds game. Defenseman Justin Coutu was placed on season ending IR retroactive to Friday, March 17. To take Coutu's place in the lineup, the Brahmas signed defenseman Jeff Wells. A veteran of ten seasons of professional hockey, Wells made his Fort Worth debut in Friday night's loss to Youngstown. Wells, a 35-year old native of Brockville, Ontario, has five seasons of IHL/AHL experience on his resume.
