Bradenton, FL - The Marauders (34-21, 66-59) got another stellar start from RHP Tyler Eppler (W, 6-1) to defeat Fort Myers (31-26, 70-57) 5-0 on Saturday night. Eppler tossed seven scoreless innings for the second straight start, striking out five while surrendering just four hits. He has won four straight starts.
The Marauders struck in the first inning against Miracle starter Mat Batts. LF Justin Maffei singled, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from CF Austin Meadows, and scored on a soft fly ball single by RF Harold Ramirez. Ramirez went 3-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored, and his 21st stolen base.
SS Chris Diaz doubled home two runs in the second against Batts. 3B Wyatt Mathisen extended the lead to 4-0 in the third inning with a sacrifice fly. An insurance run in the seventh off Todd Van Steensel sealed the final margin.
The Marauders are three games behind the Palm Beach Cardinals and open a three game series against the South Division leaders tomorrow.
