
Brad Banks Named Russell Athletic AFL Offensive Player of Week

Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa Barnstormers are proud to announce that Quarterback Brad Banks has been named the Russell Athletic AFL Offensive Player of the Week for week 4. Banks was the key player in a 76-69 victory over the San Jose SaberCats last Friday night. The Barnstormer Quarterback was nothing short of spectacular as he completed 24 of 37 passes for 383 yards and a franchise record 10 touchdown passes, while also running for a 7 yard score to seal the victory. The award comes in just his third career start in the AFL.
Currently in his rookie season with the Barnstormers, Banks has thrown for 910 yards and 19 touchdowns with only 3 interceptions. The former University of Iowa standout is best known for leading the Hawkeyes to a share of the 2002 Big Ten title. He finished his collegiate career as one of the most decorated players in Iowa history, winning the Davey O'Brien Award as the nation's best quarterback. In addition, he was named the Associated Press College Football Player of the Year, and received All-American recognition from numerous media organizations. Banks also finished second in the 2002 Heisman Trophy balloting to Southern California's Carson Palmer.
Next up for the Barnstormers is another road game this Saturday night, when they travel to Kansas City to take on the Kansas City Command. Kick off is set for 7:00pm. Iowa returns home next Saturday, April 16 to face the Chicago Rush at 7:05pm. Great seats are still available.
