
Boyko Stands Tall in Win over Portland

The Americans extended their record against the Winterhawks to a perfect 5-0-0-0 with a 3-2 victory tonight in Portland. Rookie netminder Talyn Boyko stopped 45 of 47 shots faced to record his second WHL win.
Anaheim Ducks prospect Kyle Olson scored twice in the first period, on the power play and even-strength, giving Tri-City a 2-0 lead. Both goals were assisted by Nolan Yaremko and Aaron Hyman.
Cross Hanas put Portland on the board at 2:49 second period cutting the Americans lead in half. Paycen Bjorklund responded for Tri-City two minutes later with tonight's game-winning goal, assisted by Connor Bouchard.
The Winterhawks stayed in the game with a goal from Joachim Blichfeld at 14:31 third period, but were unable to get past Boyko again.
The Americans penalty kill was a perfect 4-for-4 tonight and 15-for-16 through the past three games. After three straight overtime appearances Tri-City was able to seal tonight's victory in regulation.
