Summary
The Akron RubberDucks donned their Los Perros Calientes de Akron identity on Thursday night as the Bowie Baysox struck for seven between the third and fourth innings to down Los Perros Calientes 10-1 at Canal Park.
Turning Point
After Akron trimmed the lead down to 2-1 in the bottom of the third, Bowie looked to add on in a big way in the fourth. Maverick Handley singled home Andrew Daschbach to get the scoring going before Coby Mayo launched a grand slam to make it 7-1 Baysox.
Mound Presence
Doug Nikhazy got the start for Akron and looked sharp early retiring six of the first eight to greet him. The lefty ran into trouble in the third and fourth allowing three runs before leaving with two on and one out in the fourth. Eli Lingos followed and allowed a grand slam in the fourth, but then quickly settled in. Lingos finished his outing tossing four and third innings allowing four runs while striking out six. Cade Smith followed with an inning and two-thirds allowing one run while punching out four.
Duck Tales
Los Perros Calientes answered the Baysox's two early runs in the bottom of the third when Julian Escobedo blasted a solo home run off the slide in right to make it 2-1 Bowie.
Notebook
Escobedo's homer was his first since Aug. 20 in Erie...Smith has struck out multiple batters in each of his last four appearances (15 in eight and a third innings)...Game Time: 2:44...Attendance: 3,383.

The RubberDucks will continue their series with the Bowie Baysox at Canal Park on Friday, Sept. 16 at 7:05 p.m. Righty Tanner Burns (3-6, 3.42 ERA) will start for Akron against Bowie righty Garrett Stallings (5-10, 6.43 ERA).
