Binghamton, NY- Luke Ritter cracked a three-run base clearing double in the 11th inning leading the Binghamton Rumble Ponies to a 10-9 come from behind victory against the Hartford Yard Goats on Thursday night at Mirabito Stadium in New York. The Yard Goats, who had leads of 5-0 and 9-6, had a three game win streak snapped. Hunter Goodman had three hits including his MiLB leading 36th home run.
The Yard Goats scored five runs in the second inning off Binghamton starter Jesus Vargas. Hunter Goodman started the rally with a solo home run, his second in two games and his 36th of the season (Fresno, Spokane, Hartford). Kyle Datres added an RBI single and Julio Carreras contributed with a two-run double.
Binghamton got a three-run homer by Carlos Cortes in the third inning off Hartford starter Joe Rock to make it 5-3 The Mets affiliate got a run on a grounder and then tied the game in the sixth inning on a passed ball.
The Yard Goats and Rumble Ponies exchanged runs in the 10th inning as Hunter Goodman's RBI single scored Daniel Montano, and Luke Ritter scored on an error and it was tied 6-6 after 10 innings.
Hartford took a 9-6 lead with three runs in the 11th inning on four consecutive hits. Zac Veen drove in Aaron Schunk with a rocket double to right field, Kyle Datres singled home Veen, and Hunter Stovall's RBI brought home Isaac Collins.
Down 9-6 heading into its final at-bat, Binghamton put together a four-run inning to snap a seven game losing streak. The Rumble Ponies loaded the bases on a single, walk and the automatic base-runner. Ronnie Mauricio scored Jeremy Vasquez with an RBI single to make it 9-7. Luke Ritter followed with a base-clearing three-run double, scoring Zach Ashford, Wyatt Young, and Mauricio for the walk-off win.
The Yard Goats and Rumble Ponies will play the fourth of a six-game series on Friday night at 7:05 in New York. The broadcast can be heard on AM 1410, FM 100.9 and the iheart radio app.
