Montreal Alouettes News Release
Montreal, Jan. 7, 2009 - Just back from vacation, Montreal Alouettes' Vice President and General Manager Jim Popp has picked up right where he left off before the break as he announced today that 2008 East Division All-Star tackle Josh Bourke has signed a new two-year contract plus an option year with the team.
"This is a huge signing for our organization," said Jim Popp. "In a short period of time, Josh has become one of the best offensive linemen in the CFL, bringing security to one of the toughest and most important positions on the football field at left tackle. We're confident his work ethic will help us continue to have a top-notch offensive line for years to come. Josh is the type of player we want to build our foundation around."
A 2008 East Division All-Star, Bourke (6'7", 315) brought stability and youth to the left tackle position last season. The Alouettes' offensive line have its best year yet since the team re-joined the CFL in 1996, allowing just 22 sacks and helping set a franchise record with 610 points scored.
