Moncton Wildcats News Release

After an eight week absence, outstanding defenseman, Luc Bourdon, is expected to suit up for the Moncton Wildcats when they begin their quarter final playoff series against the Halifax Mooseheads tomorrow afternoon at 4 pm at the Moncton Coliseum.

Bourdon, a Shippagan native, acquired by Moncton from Val d'Or during the trading period broke his ankle on February 10th in a game against the Saint John Sea Dogs.

He had just returned from the World Juniors in Vancouver where he played a major role in the Gold Medal victory by Team Canada.

Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Ted Nolan said a final check with the Wildcats medical staff was being made Friday morning. "There's a very strong possibility Luc will be in the line-up to start the series," Nolan said. "The final decision will be made by Athletic Therapist Graham Black and the doctors but given his improvement over the past couple of weeks, it's all but certain he'll be ready to go."

"Luc is an elite athlete and was in great shape when the injury occurred," said Black.

"He's been working hard to get back to game level condition for the past month. Given the nature of the break and ligament tear, he's made a remarkable recovery."
