New York Boulders News Release
RAMAPO, NEW YORK - The Rockland Boulders will hold their first-ever Tryout Camp on Saturday, May 14th from 9:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Ramapo College of New Jersey in Mahwah, New Jersey. A rainout date has been set for Sunday, May 15th.
Member of the Boulders' front office will start the tryout check-in at 9 a.m. Following check-in, players will participate in a variety of basic drills to showcase their skills, resulting in a scrimmage at 12:30 p.m.
In an unprecedented move, Rockland Manager Dave LaPoint has guaranteed that one attendee will make the roster.
"We are looking for talent," said LaPoint. "I hope we have a good turn out. This is an elimination camp. It is going to be competitive, and if players do not meet our requirements, they will be eliminated on the spot."
Players are required to bring their own uniform, glove, cleats, bats, helmets, and all other personal baseball equipment.
The cost of the try-out camp is $100.00, and is non-refundable. Registration and payment should be made in advance through the Boulders' website. Lunch and two tickets to a future Boulders game will be included in the cost of the camp.
"I was shocked when our manager indicated he was going to guarantee that one attendee will make our team," said Boulders' President, Ken Lehner. "I had to ask Dave to repeat his statement because it was bold and extraordinary."
