New York Boulders News Release
The Rockland Boulders (39-44) and New Jersey Jackals (43-40) split a Tuesday doubleheader from Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, N.J.
In game one, the Jackals won 5-0 behind a seven-inning, complete-game shutout from starting pitcher Brendan Butler.
However, the Boulders turned things around in the second game. Rockland struck early and often for seven runs in the first three innings. Matt Oberste, Adam Ehrlich, Collin Ferguson, Marcos Almonte and Chase Harris all drove in runs to give the Boulders a 7-0 lead through two-and-a-half innings. Richie Fecteau, Marcos Almonte and Oberste each drove in a run in the final three innings to cap off an 11-6 victory for the Boulders.
Rockland starter Edilson Alvarez got the victory in his first career Boulders start. He allowed four runs in five innings but the Boulders' offense had already staked him to an eight-run lead by that point.
With Tuesday's split, the teams will be back at it again tomorrow from Yogi Berra Stadium. After the completion of this series, the Boulders will return home to continue their playoff push on Friday night against Trois-Rivieres, with first pitch at 7 p.m.
