New York Boulders News Release
The Rockland Boulders (34-38) dropped the final game of their abbreviated series 12-7 to the New Jersey Jackals (38-32) in a wild slugfest at Palisades Credit Union Park on Thursday night.
New Jersey started off the game by scoring three runs in the top of the first inning off Rockland starter Reinaldo Lopez, who gave up nine hits in his five innings of work. However, the Boulders got all three runs right back in the bottom of the first on John Brontsema's three-run homer.
That's where the score would stay until the top of the seventh inning when the Jackals scored six runs and seemingly blew the game open.
However, the Boulders had one more comeback in them. With two outs, Ryne Birk drilled a two-run home run to cut the lead to four, and two batters later, Matt Oberste hit his tenth home run of the season to cut New Jersey's lead to just two runs. However, the Boulders would get no closer, and three more Jackals runs in the final two innings helped New Jersey pull away to a 12-7 victory.
With Thursday night's result, the Boulders and Jackals split what turned out to be a two-game series between the two squads after Wednesday's rainout.
The Boulders' homestand continues on Friday night when Rockland hosts Quebec at 7 p.m. on Western Night. The first 1,000 fans at Palisades Credit Union Park will receive a free bandanna.
Tickets for all Boulders home games are available at the box office and online. You can also call 845-364-0009 for more information.
