New York Boulders News Release

(Ramapo, NY) - Rockland Boulders pitcher Bobby Blevins worked a pair of stellar outings and was named the Can-Am League's Pitcher of the Week for the week ending August 5. Blevins was just short of perfect in his two appearances this week, leading the Boulders to a much-needed pair of victories. In all, the right-hander tossed 15.2 scoreless innings, allowing just eight hits while walking two and striking out five over that span.

On Monday, July 30, with his team playing its second double-header in as many days, the Briarcliff Manor resident provided some key innings, going the distance in an 8-0, seven-inning shutout over the Newark Bears at Provident Bank Park, scattering just four hits while not allowing a walk. Five nights later, on Thursday, August 3, he was even sharper in another home decision, this time over the American Association's Kansas City T-Bones. Blevins carried a sparkling two-hitter into the final frame that evening, before yielding to closer Adrian Martin after allowing a pair of two-out singles. He took home his team-leading eighth victory of the season as the Boulders held on in a 1-0 thriller.

Rockland's ace is now among the league leaders in the top pitching categories, standing fourth in wins (8) and ERA (3.24), and sixth in strikeouts (70).

This is the third player honor received by a Rockland player this season and the first pitcher so honored, as Ryan Mollica and Phil Cuadrado took Batter of the Week earlier this season. He also becomes just the second Boulders pitcher to earn the award, joining Roger Lincoln in the first week of the team's inaugural 2011 season.
