August 5, 2012 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Worcester Tornadoes News Release

Sebastien Boucher had a two-run homer in the first inning and an RBI triple in the sixth to vault the Quebec Capitales over the Worcester Tornadoes 5-0 on Sunday afternoon at Le Stade Municipal.

The Capitales' center fielder scored one other time (an unearned run) to help the home team sweep the 'Nadoes in the three-game series.

Mike Gedman threw 142 pitches in the loss, totaling seven innings of work. He struck out five batters, walked four, and gave up five runs (four earned) on 11 hits.

John Mariotti limited Worcester to four hits and no walks over seven scoreless innings, striking out three batters. He induced 16 ground ball outs, a season high against the Worcester ballclub.

Boucher came in to score his second run of the game on an RBI single by Josue Peley in the third frame. Peley had the game-winning three-run blast in Friday night's 4-1 Quebec victory.

Boucher's triple in the sixth came after a lead-off home run by Josh Garton, his second of the series. Boucher knocked Jeff Helps home for the final run of the game.

Mike Mullen threw one scoreless inning for the Tornadoes, recording a pair of strikeouts in the bottom of the eighth. Roque Merceds did the same in the Worcester half of that inning at the plate, with both pitchers allowing one hit and one walk.

Chris Cox finished the Tornadoes off with a goose egg in the ninth, allowing an Alex Nunez double, but no other base runners.

Cameron Monger finished the game 1-for-2 with a walk and a single on his birthday.

Game four of the six-game road trip is Monday at 7:05pm, with the Tornadoes traveling to the Garden State for a set with the New Jersey Jackals at Yogi Berra Stadium. Tornadoes Pre-Game Live on USTREAM.tv will begin at 6:50.
