Quebec 5, Worcester 0
Quebec completed a three-game sweep of Worcester as the Capitales downed the Tornadoes, 5-0. Center fielder Sebastien Boucher had a terrific game at the plate for Quebec as he went 2-for-3 with a triple, a home run, two runs scored and three RBI. The Capitales pitching staff was very solid as the combination of John Mariotti, Roque Mercedes and Chris Cox allowed only one walk on six hits with five strikeouts. Mariotti picked up his league lead tying 10th win going the first seven innings while giving up only four hits. For Worcester in defeat, 1B Alex Nunez collected two hits.
New Jersey 10, Newark 6
New Jersey scored early and often in this one as the Jackals scored in each of the first five innings and would cruise to a 10-6 win over the Newark Bears. With the win, New Jersey takes the series and stays four games behind Quebec in the league standings. The 7-8-9 hitters of the Jackals led the offense as RF Carlos Guzman, SS Matt Nandin and C Chris Henderson went a combined 9-for-12 at the plate with a home run, four doubles, five runs scored and six RBI. New Jersey starting pitcher Steve Fox picked up the win as he allowed five earned runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts in six innings pitched. Fox notched his league lead tying 10th win of the season with the victory.
