Botterill to be honored prior to Moose-Griffins game Friday

Today, the Manitoba Moose announced Olympic Gold Medalist and Winnipeg native Jennifer Botterill will be honored prior to the game between the Moose and Grand Rapids Griffins on March 31st at the MTS Centre. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Botterill, a Winnipeg, MB native, was a member of the Women's National Team that recently won a gold medal at Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. Botterill and her teammates beat Sweden 4-1 in the final game to win their second consecutive Olympic gold medal. They also won gold back in 2002 in Salt Lake City, UT. Botterill has been a member of the Canadian National Women's Team since 1997. She now has 15 medals with Team Canada including 11 gold medals. She was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2004 IIHF World Women's Hockey Championships and the 2001 IIHF World Women's Hockey Championships. She attended Harvard University in Boston from 1998-2003 where she won the Patti Kazmaier Award as the top player in U.S. college women's Hockey twice (2001 & 2003) and is the all-time scoring leader in U.S. women's college hockey.

Botterill will drop the puck at a ceremonial face-off prior to the game between the Moose and Griffins.
