Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA- The 2008 Southwest Division Champions Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings announced today the release of their complete game schedule for the upcoming 2009 af2 season, including their home opener on Saturday, April 4th versus the Corpus Christi Sharks.
The 2009 af2 season officially kicks off on March 20th, 2009, with the BattleWings beginning their season on the road at the Arkansas Twisters on Saturday, March 28th at 7:05 pm.
After starting the season on the road, the BattleWings' home opener will be on April 4th at the CenturyTel Center to take on division rival Corpus Christi Sharks at 7:00 pm. The BattleWings' two bye weeks will come in Week 5 and Week 14.
The BattleWings 2009 home schedule features one Friday night game (May 22nd), and seven Saturday night match-ups. The lone Friday night game will have a game time of 7:30 pm, while all the Saturday night tilts have a game time of 7:00 pm except for the July 4th match-up against the Amarillo Dusters. This will be the second consecutive year that the ninth year franchise will host a 4th of July game.
"We are really excited about the upcoming 2009 season as we will unveil the 2008 Southwest Division Championship banner our first home game, host another 4th of July event, and we have some really fun promotions planned for the fans this year. The schedule also looks really good for us in terms of winning another division title" said BattleWings general manager Butch Bellah.
Each team will play a total of 16 games (eight home/eight away). The alignment consists of the American and National Conference with three divisions per conference. The East, Midwest and South Divisions fall into the American Conference, while the Central, Southwest and West compose the National Conference. Thirteen (13) teams make up the American Conference and twelve (12) make up the National Conference. The league's 18-week, 200-game regular season schedule concludes on July 25.
