Boscan And Paisano Earn Rangers Monthly Honors

HICKORY, N.C. -- The Hickory Crawdads major league parent club, the Texas Rangers, announced today that RHP Wilfredo Boscan has been named the organization's Pitcher of the Month and CF David Paisano is the organization's Defender of the Month for April. Additionally, RF Mike Bianucci received honorable mention for Player of the Month.

Boscan, 19, made three starts in April, posting a 2-1 record with a team-best 0.51 ERA, which was the second-lowest ERA in the South Atlantic League in the month. In 17.2 total innings of work, the native of Maracaibo, Venezuela, allowed only one earned run (five runs overall) on just six hits, while issuing three walks and striking out 15. Boscan, who is currently on the disabled list, did not allow a run in either of his last two starts in the month, in which he went 2-0 with 12 strikeouts, four hits allowed and four walks in 13 combined innings.

Paisano, 21, appeared in 16 games in April and played flawless defense in center field for the Crawdads, not committing a single error. In 20 games and 174.2 innings to date, Paisano has still committed no errors in 35 total chances, with 34 put-outs and one outfield assist. The Cumana, Venezuela, native also contributed offensively in April, stringing together an eight-game hitting streak from April 15 to April 22 with 14 hits during that stretch. Overall, he is batting .267 with six RBIs, 23 hits and 12 runs scored.

No Crawdad put together a finer month of April at the plate than Bianucci. The 22-year-old right fielder led the team in average (.347) and RBIs (17) and was tied for the lead in home runs (3) in April. He currently leads the team in all three offensive categories at .373-5-20. Bianucci also tied for fourth in the South Atlantic League in April in RBIs, and currently ranks third in that category. Additionally, he is seventh in the league in average, tied for second in homers, fifth in both doubles (10) and on-base percentage (.430), second in slugging percentage (.699) and third in extra-base hits (16).

Crawdads Clippings: The Crawdads and Captains are rained out tonight in Lake County. The two teams will play a double header on Friday, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Thursday morning's game at 11 a.m. will be broadcast live on Hickorycrawdads.com and will be aired on tape delay on The Big Dawg 92.1 FM and Hickorycrawdads.com at 7 p.m. tomorrow evening.

The Crawdads will be back at home for an eight-game homestand, starting on Thursday, May 14 against the Delmarva Shorebirds at L.P. Frans Stadium. It will be $1 Beverage Night at the ballpark! Gates open at 6 p.m., first pitch is at 7 p.m.
