Borrelli Bolts for Europe

Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons announced today that Dave Borrelli, whose signing was announced by the team last week, has decided instead to sign a deal with a team in Italy.
Borrelli agreed to terms with Fresno in early July, but informed team management late last week of his intention to sign in Europe.
"Obviously you hope that a player's word and commitment are enough, but that isn't always the case," Falcons Head Coach and General Manager Matt Thomas said. "This isn't the first time that a player has decided to leave, and it won't be the last. I just hope we can minimize the amount of players that we, as a league, are losing in these situations.
"At the same time, it is very hard for teams at this level to compete with the money offered by European teams," Thomas continued. "As much as we were looking forward to having Dave back with us this season, we will be all right with his defection. We have already made strides to replace him, and we are looking forward to a great season in 2007-2008."
Borrelli becomes the ninth player from the 2006-2007 Falcons' squad to sign in Europe for the upcoming season, joining Tomas Fojtik, Brett Hammond, Ryan MacDonald, Vince Macri, Rob McFeeters, Jeff State, Scott Stirling, and Dustin VanBallegooie.
The Fresno Falcons open the 2007-2008 season on Friday, October 19 at Save Mart Center against the Las Vegas Wranglers at 7:30 p.m., presented by Eye Q Vision Care.
Season tickets for the 2007-2008 season are still available. Guarantee yourself great seats to all 36 action-packed Falcons' home games at Save Mart Center. For more information on the Falcons' ticket packages, contact the Falcons' office at (559) 485-PUCK.
