Rapid City Rush News Release
(Prescott Valley, AZ) - The Rapid City Rush kicked off the final weekend of the regular season with a 2-1 win over the Arizona Sundogs on Friday night, keeping the team in second-place of the Turner Conference. Tim Boron stood tall in net, turning aside 37 shots for his eighth win in ten games while Les Reaney and Jesse Schultz provided all of the offense needed. The Rush complete their 2011-12 regular season with a game against the Sundogs tomorrow at 8:05pm MST and the game can be heard live on 100.3FM the FOX.
The Sundogs controlled the tempo in the first period, outshooting the Rush 17-6, but Tim Boron stood tall and kept the game deadlocked at 0-0 through twenty minutes.
It took until the 18:22 mark of the second period, but Les Reaney finally broke the scoreless tie with his 14th goal of the season. On the play, the Rush had constant pressure in the offensive zone that eventually led to a cross-ice pass from Shawn Limpright that set up Reaney at the right circle for the tally.
Just over six minutes into the final period, the Sundogs evened the score when Tyler Butler's wrist shot from the right point was deflected in by Jean-Philipp Chabot. Less than three minutes later, the Rush regained the lead and picked up the eventual game-winner when Jesse Schultz swept a rebound in from the left side of the net, his 24th of the year.
