Montreal Alouettes News Release
Montreal - The Canadian Football League announced that international kicker Boris Bede was named amongst the league's players of the week.
The 28-year-old native of Toulon in France made all five of his field goal attempts on Saturday night, helping his team win its first game of the season, against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, in Regina. His longest three-point kick was made from 45 yards out.
The former Université Laval standout also greatly contributed to his team's victory by helping it win the field position battle. The Alouettes started their drives on average from their own 44-yard line, while the Roughriders started theirs on average from their own 37-yard line.
He maintained an average of 67 yards on four kickoffs and 45.8 yards on ten punts. Bede also made two important special teams' tackles, including the one on the very last play of the game, which confirmed Montreal's victory.
Edmonton Eskimos running back C.J. Gable and Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Jeremiah Masoli were the other players of the week.
