Masoli Named a CFL Top Performer for Second-Straight Week

The Canadian Football League announced Tuesday that Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Jeremiah Masoli has been named one of the CFL Top Performers for Week 3.

Masoli, 29, completed 31 passes on 41 attempts (75.6%) for 369 yards, one touchdown, one interception and a 100.6 efficiency rating, while adding two carries for six yards in Hamilton's 31-17 home win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers June 29. Through three games in 2018, the 5-10, 228-pound native of San Francisco, California, has completed 75 of 106 pass attempts for 1,045 yards with four passing touchdowns and three interceptions. The University of Mississippi product has also registered 11 carries for 77 yards and one rushing touchdown. Masoli is currently on an eight-game streak of 300-plus passing yards, which is one game away from the CFL record of nine, set by Montreal's Sam Etcheverry in 1956 and Saskatchewan's Kent Austin in 1991. This marks the second-straight week Masoli has been named a CFL Top Performer.

Edmonton's C.J. Gable and Montreal's Boris Bede, first and third in voting, respectively, join Masoli as this week's CFL Top Performers. The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
