Booras earns weekly team honor

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Bloomington PrairieThunder forward Jon Booras has been named the Lone Star Restaurant "Player of the Week" for his performance in three games last week.

Booras, who also earned the award earlier this year, scored two goals and had one assist. He had the game-winning goal in a 3-1 victory at Chicago on Friday. He also had an unassisted goal and an assist in a 7-3 defeat at Rockford on Sunday.

The PrairieThunder returns to U.S. Cellular Coliseum for a three-game homestand beginning Wednesday with a contest against Western Conference leader Fort Wayne. Bloomington faces United Hockey League-leading Muskegon on Friday and Western Conference rival Chicago on Saturday. All games begin at 7:05 p.m.

NASCAR driver Reed Sorenson, who is preparing for his second season with the Chip Ganassi team, will be on hand Wednesday to sign autographs from 6 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. in the Party Deck area behind Section 108 on the Party Suite level.

The 20-year-old Sorenson, who drives the No. 41 Target Dodge, is sponsored in part on the NASCAR circuit by State Farm Insurance. He finished third among rookies in the first-year driver standings and 24th in the overall standings. He started all 36 races, finishing in the top 5 once and the top 10 on five occasions.

Sorenson also competed in the NASCAR Busch Series and finished 10th in the overall standings. He started 34 races, finishing among the top 5 on five occasions and in the top 10 on 14 occasions.

Wednesday also is Women, Wine and Hockey Night where women can have a massage and manicure as part of a $30 package in one of the party suites.

Friday is college student discount and Pepsi/Insight Family Night. College students can purchase a $12 ticket at the box office and receive a $4 discount by showing a school ID. Families can buy two tickets and receive $5 off the purchase price by bringing a Pepsi product can to the box office.

Claude the Happy Trumpeter will make a return appearance during Saturday's game. American English, a nationally known Beatles band, will perform following the game. Individuals must have tickets to the hockey game to attend the concert.

Tickets for all PrairieThunder games are available at the box office, which is located at 101 S. Madison St., Bloomington, or by calling the box office at 309-434-2679 or on-line at www.uscellularcoliseum.com.

Tickets are priced at $10, $12, $15 and $20. The box office is open 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
