Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.- After receiving three Goaltender of the Week awards courtesy of Frederic Cloutier, the Rockford IceHogs were awarded a Player of the Week honor on Monday. Center Preston Mizzi was given the weekly award for his performance during Week 15 of the 2006-07 United Hockey League regular season.

Mizzi helped lead an IceHogs offense that has scored 29 goals in its last five games. The sixth year pro registered 4g-3a-7pts with a plus/minus rating of +4 in Rockford's three games following the Annual All-Star Game. The IceHogs had a record of 2-0-1 last week.

The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native notched Rockford's only goal in Friday's 2-1 shootout loss in Muskegon. On Saturday night in Chicago against the Hounds, Mizzi tallied a goal and added two assists in the Hogs 8-2 romp. Mizzi finished the week with two goals and an assist in a 7-3 win over the Bloomington PrairieThunder on Sunday at the Rockford MetroCentre.

One of Mizzi's goals on Sunday was a shorthanded marker, his fourth as an IceHogs skater, tying him for the all-time club lead for most career shorthanded goals. Mizzi also has a four-game goal-scoring streak. Overall, the Hogs center has 14g-17a-31pts in 34 games played this season.

Next Home Game: Wednesday, Jan. 24 vs. Elmira Jackals. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. Elmira makes its first of three visits to Rockford to take on the Hogs. Wednesday is another Dollar Days with the IceHogs and Rock Station 104.9-FM, WXRX. That's dollar regular size hot dogs, soft drinks, select candy items and peanuts!
