Hogs offense steamrolls to six-game unbeaten streak

The 2007 All-Star break didn't slow down the Rockford IceHogs. Following the annual All-Star Game on Wednesday, Rockford picked up where they left off during Week 15, going unbeaten in the club's three contests. Three more games are on the horizon for the Hogs in Week 16 including the start of a five-game road swing Friday.

-Rockford goaltender Dayne Pyfer was added as the emergency goaltender on"ˆFriday, Jan. 19

-Rockford center Preston Mizzi was activated from team suspension on"ˆFriday, Jan. 19

-Rockford winger Erick Lizon was activated from the 10-Day IR on Wednesday, Jan. 17

The IceHogs are riding a season-high six game unbeaten streak (5-0-1).

Rockford has scored more goals in its last five contests (29) than in any other five-game stretch in club history.

Goaltender Frederic Cloutier is 7-1-2 in his last 10 decisions with a save percentage of .941 and a goals against average of 1.83.

Center Preston Mizzi has a goal in four straight games, totaling five tallies during his hot stretch.

Mizzi tied Rockford's all-time club record with his fourth career short-handed goal with the IceHogs.

Winger Jesse Bennefield, who tied the Hogs club-record with goals in five straight contests from 1/5/07-1/13/07, has tallied in eight of his last ten contests overall.

During Rockford's six game unbeaten streak, the Hogs power play is 13-for-39 (33.3%).

Over that same stretch, the IceHogs penalty kill has held its opponents to three power-play goals in 36 opportunities.

Winger Kevin Ulanski has five multi-point games in his last six contests totaling 4g-8a-12pts.

Head Coach Steve Martinson won his 550th career game as a head coach on Sunday.

Martinson has a career record of 550-196-65, a winning percentage of .718.

Hot Hog Week 15:

Center Preston Mizzi is the latest hot IceHogs skater, netting goals in four straight games, including all three contests in Week 15. Overall during Week 15, Mizzi chipped in 4g-3a-7pts with a plus/minus rating of +4.

Upcoming Games:

Wednesday, Jan. 24 vs. Elmira Jackals. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. Elmira makes its first of three visits to Rockford to take on the Hogs. Wednesday is another Dollar Days with the IceHogs and Rock Station 104.9-FM, WXRX. That's dollar regular size hot dogs, soft drinks, select candy items and peanuts!

Friday, Jan. 26 at Quad"ˆCity Mallards. Game time is 7 p.m. Rockford returns to Moline to take on the archrival Mallards. The game is the third of the season at The MARK"ˆof the Quad Cities and seventh overall between the Western Conference foes.

Saturday, Jan. 27 at Flint Generals. The puck drops at 6:30 p.m. The IceHogs five-game road swing continues with the club's final regular season visit to Flint, Michigan to take on the Generals. The game is the third at the Perani's Hockey World Arena and Events Center between the two teams and fourth overall.

Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all IceHogs Regular and Post Season games on Rockford's Voice, WNTA-AM 1330. Fans can also watch and listen to the Hogs on the World Wide Web with the B2 Networks! Bud Light HogTalk returns this week at Shooter's North. The show is hosted by WXRX's Jim Stone and Double T and tonight will feature IceHogs All-Star skaters Chaz Johnson and Robin Big Snake. The show runs from 7-8 p.m. and also features IceHogs Head Coach Steve Martinson. Come on out and talk IceHogs hockey and take advantage of some Bud Light specials at Shooter's North.
