
Boone tosses five shutout innings in Fisher Cats 9-5 loss to Mets

Manchester, NH---Adam Loewen hit his first home run of the season and drove in three runs, but the Fisher Cats lost to Binghamton 9-5 on Friday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
Binghamton (6-3), in winning its fifth straight game, scored five runs in the top of the first inning. Lucas Duda (2-for-5, 2B, HR, 6 RBI) drilled a bases loaded double to make it 3-0 and Mike Nickeas knocked in two more with a single off starter and losing pitcher Marty McLeary (0-1).
Duda also added a three-run homer in the top of the second inning. His third home run of the season gave him six runs batted in for the night. Zach Lutz followed with a long home run over the Samuel Adams Bar and Grill as the Mets built a 9-0 lead.
New Hampshire RF Adam Loewen hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot, off Mets winning pitcher Mike Antonini in the bottom of the second to make it 9-2.
Antonini (1-1) worked five innings, allowing four hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out five in earning his first victory.
The Fisher Cats (4-4) scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Manny Mayorson (2-for-5) singled, Eric Thames (2-for-4, RBI) walked and Loewen doubled. Jonathan Diaz (2-for-4) then picked up his first RBI of the season with an infield single to make it 9-4 Mets.
New Hampshire tacked on another run in the bottom of the seventh inning off reliever Edgar Ramirez. David Cooper (2-for-5) doubled and scored on a double by Thames to make it 9-5.
Randy Boone worked five innings of scoreless relief for the Fisher Cats, allowing just one hit. He walked two and struck out four. Zach Dials pitched a perfect ninth inning for New Hampshire.
The Fisher Cats take on the Mets in game three of their four-game series Saturday at 1:35pm with New Hampshire right-hander Bobby Bell (0-1, 7.20) squaring off against Binghamton right-hander (0-1, 12.27) at 6:35pm. Radio coverage gets underway from Merchantsauto.com Stadium at 6:15pm with Mike Murphy and Bob Lipman on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.
