SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - The two-time defending Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, concluded the home portion of the schedule by suffering a 4-0 loss to the Washington Wild Things in 11 innings on Thursday night.
Starter Taylor Thurber carried a no-hitter into the seventh for the Boomers before allowing a one-out single to Scott Kalamar. Thurber tossed eight scoreless frames, allowing just two hits with a pair of walks and six strikeouts. Neither team could score until the 11th. Washington struck for four runs to account for the only offense. TJ Bennett and Michael Valadez each posted two hits in the defeat as seven different individuals collected hits.
The Boomers (39-54) hit the road for the final three games of the season beginning on Friday night against the Normal CornBelters. RHP Evan Boyd (0-5, 5.36) is scheduled to start the opener against a to be determined starter. Hear all of the action on AM 1410 WRMN with the voice of the Boomers, Tim Calderwood.
