Rockford Lightning News Release
Rockford, IL. Lightning Head Coach Chris Daleo made an appearance at Monroe Center Elementary School this morning. Over four-hundred kids are excited to join the "Books for Basketball" program and read their ten books in exchange for a ticket to a Rockford Lightning home game! "Books for Basketball is a great program," says Lightning P.R. Director Jay Fields, "it's incredible to see the outlying areas get involved."
If your school is interested in joining the "Books for Basketball" program, contact the Lightning Front Office at (815) 874-4232. Coach Daleo and Jay Fields will come out to your school and talk to the kids about the importance of reading. Each child will receive a free poster during the assembly. Upon completion of reading ten books, kids will each receive a color poster and a ticket to an upcoming game.
Coach Daleo is staying busy this weekend! On Saturday from 10:30am to 12:30pm, he is running a free clinic for inner city kids at Patriot's Gateway Center. Kids will go through stations and drilling exercises while getting tips from the best coach in the CBA. "The Rockford Lightning is very involved in the community," adds Coach Daleo, "running clinics like these will hopefully give these kids something to work towards."
Any further information can be obtained by calling the Rockford Lightning front office at 815-874-4232 or by visiting the team website.
