Bombers Win Thriller In Atlantic City, 4-3

Atlantic City, NJ – The Dayton Bombers posted a 4-3 shootout win over the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies in front of 1,792 at Historic Boardwalk Hall on the Jersey Shore Friday night.

The Bombers scored on their second shot on goal when JUSTIN KINNUNEN beat Bullies goaltender Trevor Koenig on the short side, and Dayton led 1-0. Jason Notermann tied the game, 1-1, with his team-leading 24th goal of the season after a flurry of activity in front of Dayton goaltender MIKE AYERS at 7:01 of the opening period.

The only goal in the second period was scored when JEFF SZWEZ capitalized on a breakaway and scored his first goal as a member of the Bombers, who took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission. Swzez was acquired from the Pee Dee Pride seven games ago for Ben Knopp.

Third period goals from Brett Peterson (10:54) and Derek Edwardson (12:22) gave Atlantic City a 3-2 lead. But former Bullies forward BRETT NOWAK tied the game at 14:26, and the teams went to overtime tied, 3-3. After a scoreless overtime period, Ayers stopped 4 of 5 shooters and the Bombers received goals from Nowak and Mathieu Brunelle to seal the 4-3 shootout win.

The Bombers road trip continues tomorrow (Saturday) night when they return to Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton to face the Titans. Audio coverage begins at 7:00 PM at daytonbombers.com.
