Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Bryan-College Station, TX - The Brazos Valley Bombers (29-10) won 5-3 over the Acadiana Cane Cutters (21-18) Saturday night, their second consecutive victory.

"Playing Bombers baseball out here, a good win against a good club- it was good to see," said Curt Dixon, Bombers head coach. "Being away for two days due to Mother Nature, we're just glad to get back out here and play our game."

The Bombers offense got to work in the bottom of the second, after a single from third baseman Logan Nottebrok followed by an error by the Acadiana second baseman on a ground ball from Matt Hilston gave the home team runners on the corners with no outs. A sacrifice fly from designated hitter Hunter Hagler would score Nottebrok and advance Hilston to third. A ground ball from catcher Tucker Pennell would score Hilston to add another run, followed by a double from right fielder Blake Kopetsky. Second baseman Kolbey Carpenter would then hit an RBI single, scoring Kopetsky to give the Bombers a 3-0 lead.

The Cane Cutters would cut their deficit to 3-1 in the top of the fifth, but the Bombers would respond in the bottom of the inning after left fielder Ford Moore scored on a single from designated hitter Hunter Hagler to make the score 4-1.

Acadiana would mount yet another comeback in the sixth inning, scoring two runs on a bases loaded single, but the Bombers would once again counter with a run of their own in the bottom of the frame on an RBI double from shortstop Horacio Correa III.

The Bomber pitching staff would allow just one hit over the last 3 1/3 innings of the game, as the Bombers went on to win their 12th consecutive home game.

The Bombers will finish their series with the Cane Cutters Sunday night at Cellucor Field at 7:05 p.m. with Baseball Bingo presented by Brazos Bingo, where fans can win prizes from the action on the field.
