Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release

WINNIPEG, MB - The Blue Bombers have added a pair of non-imports to their roster today, signing defensive back Shawn Gallant and defensive lineman Don Oramasionwu to contracts.

As per team policy, details of the agreements are not disclosed.

Both Gallant and Oramasionwu return for their second stint in Blue and Gold, and both are residents of Winnipeg.

Gallant (6-1, 206, Eastern Kentucky '00, DOB: Oct. 14, 1976 in Windsor, ON) returns for a second tour of duty with Winnipeg after spending the last two seasons in Montreal. He played for the Blue Bombers during the 2005 and '06 seasons.

The hard-hitting Canadian defensive back is not only known for his ability to play safety or other defensive backfield positions, but for his skill on special teams.

"A solid core special teams performer that will provide us with depth at free safety," said Blue Bombers head coach Mike Kelly.

Gallant was fourth on the Alouettes with 13 special teams tackles last season.

Oramasionwu (6-3, 255, Manitoba '08, DOB: June 4, 1986 in Winnipeg, MB) is a local product that was a fifth round draft pick of the Blue Bombers in the 2008 CFL Canadian Draft.

Oramasionwu (pronounced ORA-MA-SEE-ON) returned to school for a final year after spending the 2008 training camp with the Blue Bombers.

"Don's a young, strong, athletic defensive lineman that will prosper with the coaching of line coach Richard Harris and develop into an inside force," Kelly said.

The hulking defensive lineman was a member of the 2007 Vanier Cup-winning University of Manitoba Bisons.
