BOMBERS NOTES

BIG WEEKEND AHEAD: The Bombers will play two home games this weekend, on Saturday, January 10 against Wheeling and Sunday, January 11 against Trenton. On Saturday it's the Bombers "Military Appreciation Night II" where they honor the servicemen and women of WPAFB and Springfield ANG. Silver level tickets are 2-for-1 with a military or CID at the Nutter Center box office. Then on Sunday kids 12 and under get a FREE Silver level ticket with the purchase of an adult ticket at the box office.

LATE HEARTBREAK: The Bombers dropped their game on Friday against the Trenton Devils 3-2 after a late surge by the home team. The Bombers took a 2-0 lead when Mike McLean and Christian Gaudet each scored in the second period. Goalie Paul Drew stopped a penalty shot to maintain the lead, however, the Devils tallied three goals in a span of just more than three minutes to take the victory.

MOVING ON: A six-goal second period from the Trenton Devils gave way to an 8-2 win over the Bombers on Saturday night. Although the Bombers opened the game in scoring when Kelly Perrault netted his first in a Dayton uniform, the Devils broke out for two first period goals and six more in the second. Mike McLean had his second goal in as many nights to make the final 8-2.

OPENING THE FLOODGATES: Six different Bombers picked up at least two points in a lopsided 6-2 win over the Reading Royals on Sunday afternoon. Playing a mere 15 hours after their last game in Trenton, the Bombers bounced back to take a 3-0 lead after the first period. A solo score in the second and a pair in the third sealed the deal for the team's 18th win of the year. Les Reaney led the way for Dayton with two goals and an assist, while Jarret Lukin and Justin Bowers each had a goal and two assists. Mike McLean had a goal and a helper, and Dan Riedel and Mike Looby each picked up two assists. Paul Drew won his ninth of the season after going 31 of 33 and stopping his second penalty shot in three games.

McLEAN ON FIRE: Second-year pro Mike McLean is on a four-game point streak and three-game goal streak for the Bombers. He had his tenth multi-point game of the year on Sunday after a three-point performance in Reading. McLean is tied for the team lead in goals (14) with fellow former Florida Everblade Jarret Lukin.

DOUBLING UP: Mike Looby has doubled his season total in points in the last week. The Brampton, Ontario native has four assists in his last three games and eight points on the season.

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY: The newest additions to the Bombers family, Kelly Perrault and Tomas Zaborsky, posted a combined five points over the weekend. Perrault, returning to the pros after a four-year hiatus, had a goal and two assists. Zaborsky, who was assigned to the Bombers by the NHL's New York Rangers, netted one goal and added one assist.

WHEN IT RAINS, IT POURS: After the plethora of multi-point performances on Sunday by the Bombers, Mike McLean brought his season total to 10 games with at least two points. Justin Bowers had his ninth of the year and Jarret Lukin tallied his seventh. With a pair of assists on Sunday, Dan Riedel tallied his 6th multi-pointer of the season.

MILESTONES: The following Bombers players are approaching career milestones: Dan Riedel - 4 goals shy of 50 career goals and 2 assists shy of 50 career assists; Dominic D'Amour - 7 assists shy of 50 career assists

MILE MARKERS: On Sunday in Reading Kelly Perrault played in his 500th career professional game. Also on Sunday, Mike Looby tallied his 50th career point.

SHOW YOUR APPRECIATION: The Bombers next home game is Saturday, January 10 when the Wheeling Nailers come to town for Military Appreciation Night II. Silver level tickets are 2-for-1 with a military ID or CID at the Nutter Center box office. The team will be wearing special WPAFB jerseys designed by base personnel Denise Baker. The jerseys will be auctioned off live after the game to benefit the WPAFB Fisher/Nightingale Houses and the Dayton Bombers Foundation.

BUCKY ON ICE: The Bombers furry, fun loving mascot Bucky, the Flying Squirrel will be skating at the Ice Arena at Kettering Rec on Saturday, January 10 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. during the open skate session. All members of the Ponderosa Kids Club will skate for FREE by showing their membership card!

HOCKEY COMMUNITY TURNS OUT FOR KYLE CANNON: On Sunday, December 28 the Bombers hosted a fundraiser for Kyle Cannon, the 14-year-old Toledo native who was paralyzed at a high school tournament in Dayton over Thanksgiving weekend. Through a silent auction, pre-sale tickets, chuck-a-puck sales, Stanley Cup photos and general donations, the team was able to raise more than $20,000 for the Cannon Family.
