Bombers Re-Sign Pair Of Canadians

WINNIPEG, MB - Non-imports Chris Cvetkovic and Shawn Mayne have re-signed with the Winnipeg Football Club today.

As per team policy, details of the agreement are not disclosed.

Cvetkovic (6-1, 243, Concordia '01, DOB: June 28, 1977 in Hamilton, ON) returns for a seventh season with the Blue Bombers. The veteran long snapper brings has a wealth of experience and offers leadership as one of the longest serving players currently with the team.

"Chris was very consistent last season as a long snapper. He is a core player of our special teams unit with gives great effort on coverage," said head coach Mike Kelly.

Mayne (6-3, 248, Connecticut '05, DOB: June 5, 1980 in Montreal, QC) is back for a fourth season with the Blue and Gold. The 28-year-old defensive end provides great Canadian depth at a very important position.

"Shawn's motor always runs, and he's a very disciplined player. He can chase people down from behind and provides us with solid minutes as a rotational player," Kelly said.

Cvetkovic, a year-round resident of Winnipeg, has given a considerable amount of his time in the community. The man called "Cvety" is a fan-favourite and popular teammate, for his attitude and willingness to give back to his fans and teammates.

Mayne has been steadily improving since being acquired early in the 2006 season. The defensive end is in his fourth year in the league, and has steadily increased his playing time through production, each year. Last season Mayne registered eight tackles and a sack.

Both Cvetkovic and Mayne appeared in all 18 regular season games and the East semi-final against Edmonton.
