Bombers' Offense Silenced in Series Finale

MEQUON, WI - Joe Greenfield allowed just one hit and struck out seven over seven and two-thirds brilliant shutout innings to lead the Lakeshore Chinooks to an 8-2 victory over the Battle Creek Bombers in the series finale at Kapco Park.

At one point, Greenfield retired 14 straight hitters. The only hit he surrendered was a single by Sikes Orvis in the second inning.

The Chinooks jumped ahead early with three runs in the first and two more in the third. They added three in the sixth to put the game out of reach. Ryan Krill was 2-4 with two RBI.

Bombers starter Joe Battistelli lasted just one inning, as he struggled with his command, walking two. Kyle Teague, Brian Thene, and Brian Valente finished up out of the bullpen for Battle Creek.

Jeremy Shay and Dillon Moyer picked up an RBI singles in the ninth, but it was not nearly enough.

The Bombers end the four game road trip 2-2. They return home on Friday night for the first of three with the Madison Mallards in the final series before the all-star break. First pitch is 7:05 E.T. Cole Swanson will take the hill for Battle Creek.
