Rochester Honkers News Release

(Rochester, MN) - After rain delayed the star time by almost two hours, the Rochester Honkers came all the way from behind to beat the Mankato MoonDogs on Wednesday by a final score of 10-7 in Rochester, MN.

The Honkers trailed by a score of 7-0 before putting a seven spot up on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning. Designated hitter Trevor Podratz (Hawaii) hit a long three-run homerun to tie it. The homerun was the ninth of the year for the slugging Podratz, who finished his night 1 for 3 with the homerun and three RBIs.

Rochester broke the 7-7 ties in the bottom of the eighth inning on an RBI groundout from left fielder Justin Parr (Illinois). Parr finished his night 2 for 5 with two RBIs.

Honkers starter Carl O'Neal (St. Mary's TX) made it through just 2.0 innings and allowed four earned runs on three hits and two walks. O'Neal struck out three batters to pick up the no-decision.

The Honkers would use five pitchers in relief of O'Neal to help solidify the victory.

Reid Roper (Illinois) pitched a scoreless top of the eighth to pick up the win. Roper is now 2-1 on the season.

Outfielder Dakota Smith (Kansas) went 3 for 5 with two runs and two RBIs and also picked up his fourth save of the summer.

The Honkers (6-8, 21-18) and MoonDogs (7-7, 35-14) will play the series finale tomorrow, July 19th, in Rochester, MN. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM with Jordan Millbrath (Augustana) getting the start for Rochester against Mankato hurler Patrick Goelz (Oklahoma City).
