Honkers Drop Game Three 14-2

(Rochester, MN) -  The Rochester Honkers lost to the Mankato MoonDogs on Thursday night by a final score of 14-2 in front of 1,523 Rochester fans.

This one was all about the MoonDogs offense as they outhit the Honkers twelve knocks to just four for the home team.

The MoonDogs jumped out with three runs in both the first and second innings, and then added a four-spot in the fourth to take an early 10-1 lead.

Rochester scored their only run in the bottom half of the first inning on an RBI single from designated hitter Trevor Podratz (Hawaii). Podratz finished his night 1 for 3 with that RBI.

Honkers starter Jordan Milbrath (Augustana) went just 4.0 innings and allowed ten earned runs to pick up the loss and move his record to 2-3. Millbrath scattered ten hits and walked four in the defeat.

MoonDogs starter Partick Goelz (Oklahoma City) tossed 5.1 innings and surrendered just one Rochester run to earn his first victory of the summer and even his record at 1-1.

With the win, Mankato avoids the three-game sweep and takes the season series six games to four.

Tomorrow, July 20th, the Honkers will begin a three-game series with the St. Cloud Rox with the first game in Rochester, MN before the team travels to St. Cloud for the final two. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM at Mayo Field. Lefty Matt Kent (Texas A&M) is the scheduled starter for Rochester. Kent is 2-4 in seven starts with a 2.61 ERA.
