Bombers Ink Forward LaPointe

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers announced today the signing of forward Dan LaPointe for the 2008-09 season, head coach Bill McDonald said. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

LaPointe, a Victoria, British Columbia native, joins the Bombers after spending the 2007-08 season between Oklahoma City and Rio Grande Valley of the Central Hockey League. He had a combined 16 points (10g,6a) in 31 games.

"I'm happy to be playing in Dayton and in the ECHL," LaPointe said. "This is a fantastic opportunity to build my career and help the Bombers win."

The 6-foot-1-inch, 200-pound LaPointe spent two seasons at the University of Calgary, recording 14 goals, 14 assists and 82 PIM from 2005 to 2007. From 2001-2005 he played throughout the Western Hockey League with Seattle, Portland, Prince George and Spokane. He averaged 23 points per season throughout his junior hockey career.

"Dan has good experience from his pro, college and junior seasons," McDonald said. "He's a real good character guy and will fit into the team well."
