Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers augmented their receiving corps today with the signing of free agent receiver Terrence Edwards.
As per team policy, details of the deal were not disclosed.
Edwards (6-0, 171, Georgia '02, DOB: April 20, 1979 in Tennille, Ga.) is an experienced CFL pass-catcher, having spent the pass two seasons with the Montreal Alouettes. In 2006, Edwards hauled in 33 passes for 393 yards and one TD catch for the Als and was credited with two rushes for 18 yards. In 2005, he had six catches for 44 yards in just two games after signing late in the season with Montreal.
Edwards, who is the brother of Montreal running back Robert Edwards, was a college standout with the Georgia Bulldogs. He totaled 3,093 yards and 30 TDs on 204 career receptions between 1999 and 2002. He broke the 1,000-yards receiving mark with the Bulldogs in 2002, when he started 12 of Georgia's 13 games that season.
"Terrence Edwards is a solid addition to our receiving corps," said Bombers G.M. Brendan Taman. "His addition will provide our quarterbacks another quality target."
