Bombers Fall to Cane Cutters

July 7, 2018 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL) - Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Bryan/College Station, TX - The Bombers could not keep the Cane Cutters off the scoreboard as they fell to Acadiana 10-4 in front of the home crowd at Travis Field. The Bombers struggled for offense until late in the game, when their comeback came up short.

The Bombers gave up a pair in the first inning and could not recover as the Cane Cutters had success at the plate and on the bases all night long. For the night, the Cane Cutters totaled ten runs on ten hits. The biggest difference came from the Cane Cutters ability to steal bases, as they were able to swipe ten bases against the Bombers, which allowed for them to convert their chances.

The Bombers did have success late, scoring all four of their runs in the last three innings. The first run of the game for the Bombers came from Casey Danley who knocked in the run on a RBI single. The second run for the Bombers scored in the 8th inning as Sam McElreath scored on a RBI single from Sy Snedecker. The Bombers then scored a pair of runs in the 9th inning off a sacrifice fly from Alex Nielsen and a double from Sam McElreath to reach the 10-4 final score.

The Bombers continue their homestand tomorrow when they take on the Texarkana Twins at home in front of the Travis Field crowd for a two-game set.
