WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers beefed-up their offensive line today with the addition of offensive tackle Garrick Jones.

As per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Jones (6-5, 312, Arkansas State '01, DOB: Dec. 2, 1978 in Little Rock, Ark.) is in his second go-round with the Bombers. He originally played for the Bombers during the 2002 season, joining the team late that season.

Jones played his first game for the Blue & Gold on Oct. 6, 2002 versus the Saskatchewan Roughriders and went on to start the team's final five regular season contests. He also started the Bombers' Nov. 10 Western Division Semifinal game versus the B.C. Lions and the Nov. 17 Western Final against the Edmonton Eskimos.

Prior to rejoining the Blue Bombers, Jones spent the past three seasons (2003-05) as a member of the Houston Texans of the NFL. He spent four games on the Texans' practice roster in 2003 before being elevated to the active roster on Nov. 14. He was inactive for the Texans next 11 games. Jones was inactive for all 16 games in '04 and spent most of the '05 season on Houston's practice roster.

Jones attended training camp with the Atlanta Falcons this summer and was one of the team's final cuts.

"Garrick is a quality player who brings plenty of experience and ability to our football club," said Bombers G.M. Brendan Taman. "We expect him to make a significant contribution to our football team."
