Greenville Drive News Release
The Greenville Bombers announced on Thursday that WCCP 104.9 sports-talk host Mark Hauser has agreed to run the team's press box on game nights. Hauser will continue cohosting "SportsTalk" with Dan Scott weekday mornings and work home games for the Bombers in the evenings.
Hauser served as the "Voice of the G-Braves" and the team's Director of Media Relations for 14 seasons after replacing long-time broadcaster Jim Phillips in 1991. The West Hartford, CT native was a two-time winner of the Southern League's "Broadcaster of the Year" award, collecting the honor in both 1992 and 2000.
"As soon as the air softened I realized that baseball season was coming and that I was going to miss broadcasting the games," Hauser said. "While the Bombers are not going to be on the radio, I am thrilled that I will have the opportunity to remain involved in professional ball. I have known Rich Mozingo for years and I am impressed with the energy he and his staff have brought to Greenville."
In addition to his duties with WCCP, Hauser also serves as the play-by-play announcer for Wofford College basketball and football. Prior to the 2000 season, Hauser was inducted in the Wofford College Athletic Hall of Fame as an honorary letterman. Hauser will serve as the team's official scorer in addition to a host of other duties that will keep the Ithaca College alum involved in professional baseball for his 21st season; having begun his broadcasting career with the Bend (OR) Phillies in 1985.
"We are thrilled to be able to add someone of Mark's credentials into our fold," Director of Media Relations Pete Ehmke said, "Mark's mere presence will be a benefit to our organization and we look forward to working with him this season."
Mark and his wife Jennifer Branaugh reside in Simpsonville with their two daughters Samantha and Emma.
