Boland, Cornel, Masin & Ritchie Earn Training Camp Invites

(Peterborough, ON, September 19, 2014)- The Peterborough Petes are proud to announce that four players have been invited to attend NHL training camps following successful showings at rookie camps earlier this month.

Defencemen Connor Boland (Edmonton Oilers) and Dominik Masin (Tampa Bay Lightning), along with forwards Eric Cornel (Buffalo Sabres) and Nick Ritchie (Anaheim Ducks) will compete for spots on NHL rosters this season.

Nick Ritchie was the 10th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. The 6'2.5", 229lbs winger from Orangeville has recorded 73 goals, 75 assists, and 148 points in 165 OHL games since being taken in the first round, 2nd overall by the Petes in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection.

Dominik Masin was selected in the second round, 35th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. The 6'2.5", 191lbs defenceman from Mestec Kralove, Czech Republic, was chosen by the Petes 21st overall in the 2014 CHL Import Draft after scoring two goals, 19 assists, and 21 points in 39 games with HC Slavia Praha of the Czech U20 league in 2013/14.

Eric Cornel was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres 44th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He will start Sabres training camp centering Czech winger Vaclav Karabacek and Rimouski Oceanic forward Michael Joly. Cornel, a 6'2", 190lbs forward from Kemptville, has amassed 29 goals and 49 assists for 78 points in 131 games played after being selected in the first round, 3rd overall by the Petes in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection.

Connor Boland is an NHL free agent who is playing on Team Kurri in the three-team Edmonton Oilers training camp. He served as Petes captain during the 2013/14 season, and was selected by the Petes 28th overall in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection. The 6'2.5", 194lbs rearguard has played 184 games for the Petes, registering four goals and 18 assists for 22 points.
