July 30, 2012 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Boise Hawks News Release
BOISE, Idaho - The Boise Hawks posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time since the 2006 season, blanking the Tri-City Dust Devils, 1-0, at Memorial Stadium.
Ian Dickson tossed five innings of three-hit ball to earn his second-straight win, while Hunter Ackerman retired 12 of the 13 men he faced, fanning six, to earn his first save.
The Hawks completed a three-game sweep of the Dust Devils - their first three-game win streak of the season, while moving to 4-2 in the second half of the Northwest League season.
Boise scored the lone run of the game in the third inning, as Gioskar Amaya hit a one-out solo home run to right. It was enough for Dickson, who worked out of jams in each of the first four innings, as the Dust Devils had a runner in scoring position in each frame.
Ackerman was dominant, retiring the first 10 men he faced, including striking out the side in the sixth. Tri-City got a one-out single from Francisco Sosa in the ninth, but the lefty fanned Derek Jones and got Drew Beuerlein to ground out to end the game.
Amaya and Rock Shoulders each had two hits for the Hawks, while Sosa had two his for the Dust Devils.
Following tomorrow's league-wide off day, the Hawks close out the nine-game homestand with a three-game set against Spokane, beginning Tuesday night.
NOTES - It marked the first time since August 30-31, 2006, that the Hawks had recorded back-to-back shutouts, earning a pair of 9-0 decisions against Spokane...Boise is tied with Yakima with five shutout victories this season and have not allowed an earned run in 23 1/3 consecutive innings...Dickson has not allowed a run in 12-straight innings...T.J. Oakes took the loss for Tri-City, despite striking out a career-high eight men in six innings.
