Boise Hawks Hosting Book Drive to Benefit Idaho Youth Ranch

BOISE, ID- Every Tuesday night home game during the 2011 Boise Hawks season is Library Voucher Redemption Night. By spending time reading this summer at local libraries kids can receive a voucher for two reserved seats to any Tuesday night home game, courtesy of KeyBank. Vouchers need to be redeemed at the Boise Hawks Box Office located at Memorial Stadium, 5600 N. Glenwood Street.

The Boise Hawks will also host a book drive during every Tuesday night home game: 7/5, 7/26, 8/2, 8/16, 8/30 during the 2011 season. The Hawks will be collecting new or used books at the ballpark to donate to the Idaho Youth Ranch. Collected books will be sold online by the Idaho Youth Ranch E-Commerce department or at Idaho Youth Ranch Thrift Stores. The revenue generated from the sale of these books will help to fund services for at-risk youth served at Hays Shelter Home in Boise, and other programs of the Idaho Youth Ranch. The Hays Shelter Home provides 24-hour emergency care, counseling, and education for boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 17 who are homeless, runaways, or victims of abuse and/or neglect. Hays Shelter Home staffs the only 24-hour help line supporting at-risk youth in the Treasure Valley. Services and referrals are also available to parents who need help addressing problems that disrupt healthy home environments. The Idaho Youth Ranch, "Turning Troubles into Triumphs!"

The Hawks began Northwest League play as an independent club from 1987-89. The team was affiliated with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim from 1990-2000 and have been with the Chicago Cubs since 2001. The club has won 6 NWL Championships, the most recent banner coming in 2004.
