Boise Hawks News Release

The Boise Hawks (28-30, 7-13) fell to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (30-28, 10-10) by a final score of 6-3 on Wednesday night. The Hawks allowed three runs in the 3rd inning and it proved to be the difference in the game.

Salem-Keizer scored the first runs of the game in the 2nd inning. It was a three run frame as Aaron Bond led it off with a triple. Wander Franco doubled right after making it 1-0, and then it was another triple from Dalton Combs to make it 2-0 Volcanoes. An RBI-groundout from Ricardo Genoves made it 3-0 Salem-Keizer.

Boise got a home run from Cade Harris in the bottom of the 2nd inning to make it a 3-1 game. It was Harris's 7th home run of the season and second in as many days.

Salem Keizer scored again in the third inning on a Bond RBI single making it 4-1 Volcanoes. Two more runs in the 4th inning off Hawks starter Pearson McMahan made it 6-1. While McMahan allowed six runs only four would be earned in his four innings of work as the Hawks made two errors along the way.

Boise got the bats going in the 5th inning. After a Hidekel Gonzalez walk, an Aubrey McCarty single, and a Terrin Vavra fielder's choice, LJ Hatch had the first of two RBI's in the inning for Boise. Luke Morgan singled in another run for the Hawks and after five complete, Boise was down at just 6-3.

But the Hawks could never come back and Salem-Keizer wins the game at 6-3 as Jesus Tona picked up his 10th save of the year in the 9th.

Boise will return tomorrow for the third game of the three-game series with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. MT and tomorrow will be "Thirsty Thursday". Get your tickets at BoiseHawks.com or call 208-322-5000.
