Bismarck Bobcats News Release

Cloquet, MN--A crisp power-play goal just 11 seconds into a man-advantage led to a 3-2 win by the Minnesota Wilderness over the Bismarck Bobcats Friday night in Cloquet, MN.

Ivan Chukarov slammed a Jack Forbort feed past Aaron Nelson (Bismarck, ND) after all five Wilderness skaters touched the puck around the Bobcat penalty kill in just 11 seconds.

The win pushed the Wilderness (27-13-6) four points ahead of Coulee Region for second place in the NAHL Midwest. The Bobcats (28-14-4) remain a point in front of Austin for the top Central Division spot with the Bruins game at Fairbanks pending.

The night started well for the Bobcats. Seth Blair (Bismarck, ND) wristed in a goal from the top of the left circle off of an offensive zone draw early in the second for a 1-0 Bobcat lead.

A pair of two-on-one rushes sent the Wilderness to the lead. Darian Romenko finished a Johno May feed at the end of the second to tie the game. Minnesota took the lead when Jakob Romo hit Jack Forbort with a back-hander that Forbort lifted top-shelf at 2:21 of the third for a 2-1 Wilderness edge.

Jacob McDowell (Dimondale, MI) re-tied the matchup with a slap from the left point at 9:44 of the third, knotting it at 2-2. But McDowell took a tripping all at 14:09, and the winner was sent in at 14:20.

The Bobcats face the Wilderness again Saturday night. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:40 p.m. on Supertalk 1270 and www.fasthockey.com.
