Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Two first-period goals carried the Topeka Roadrunners to a 3-0 win over the Wichita Falls Wildcats (23-19-3) at the Kay Yeager Coliseum on Saturday.

Despite the Wildcats outshooting Topeka in the period, the Roadrunners controlled the first frame, and ended the opening stanza with a 2-0 advantage.

Zach Gleinke opened the scoring 1:14 into the game, as his shot just trickled through the arm of David Zevnik. Then, with 49 seconds remaining Jerad Tafoya made it 2-0, as he pushed a loose puck over the goal line.

Topeka stretched its advantage at 8:39 in the second period, as James Ring finished off a good passing move with Tafoya to make it 3-0.

The Wildcats outshot Topeka 10-3 in the third period to no avail, as the Roadrunners were content to see out their 3-0 win. David Zevnik made 18 saves in the losing effort.

The Wildcats are next in action on Friday, Feb. 31 when they open up an eight-game road trip against the Odessa Jackalopes. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:17 p.m, with video coverage available on FASTHockey.com. An audio-only broadcast will be available on UStream.com.
