Blues Win Showdown before Big Crowd

July 5, 2015 - Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL)
Bristol Blues News Release

The Division leaders of the East and West FCBL Divisions, The Bristol Blues and North Shore Navigators faced off last night at Muzzy Field for a Fourth of July Battle. The Blues, energized by the large attendance of fans, came away with a 7-0 win over the Navigators.

The Blues were led offensively by Davis Strong, who had two RBI's on three hits and one run scored, and Christian Whigham, who had an RBI on two hits for the game.

Blues starting pitcher Tim Cate had a dominate outing on the mound when he went six innings allowing only a single hit and no runs while earning the win. Relieving pitchers Steve Wallace and Riley Streit were able to continue the shutout performance, but the seven run lead would not allow for a save for either of the relievers. The losing pitcher for the Navigators was John Lavoie.

The Blues are back in action tonight at 6pm against the Pittsfield Suns with Ryan Lauria to be expected to make his first start for the Blues.
